These are my links for December 10th through April 10th:
- Can Robots Have Social Intelligence? – Microsoft Research – A nice overview of the current state of MSR's Situated Interaction project – no doubt prompted by the announcement of Cortana.
- Rap Genius Engineering Team – Objective-C isn’t what you think it is (if you think like a Rubyist) | News Genius –
- mdeslaur: Ubuntu Touch and User Privacy – An overview of how Ubuntu Touch is tackling application permissions. Seems like a nice approach, though I wonder how effective the prompts will be. I'll have to play around with this and see how it works in practice, they could be just as annoying (and rapidly dismissed) as the privilege escalation prompts (UAC – User Account Control) on Windows.
- TextSecure, Now With 10 Million More Users – Cyanogenmod now features native integration of a secure messaging protocol, right in the OS SMS layer – meaning it works from any SMS app.
