These are my links for August 19th through October 9th:
- Drawbridge – Microsoft Research – Microsoft Research also have a library OS. Between NetBSD and its Rump kernel, MirageOS and MSR’s Drawbridge there should be some interesting, efficient and secure platforms to deploy the cloud on soon.
- Plants in offices increase happiness and productivity | Money | The Guardian – “Our research questions this widespread conviction that less is more. Sometimes less is just less.”
- Experiments in Code Typography – Microsoft Research – Some pretty interesting ideas for a programming language evolved inline with a dedicated programming environment. The metatext and probing look especially neat!
- graydon2 | technicalities: “not rocket science” (the story of monotone and bors) – “The Not Rocket Science Rule Of Software Engineering: automatically maintain a repository of code that always passes all the tests” This seems like an especially useful tactic for (large) open source software projects.
